for example I mark mine with

A1 month/year

A - first battery order/batch I got (so it goes A B C D etc)
1 - a way to tell different batteries from that order apart (1 2 3 4 etc)

month/year - month and year of purchase, so I know how old they are right away

isnt just month/year sufficient?

i assume you do this so you can throw them away when they are like 1 year old
