these genuinely look like a death trap

2017-12-18 09:46:17 UTC

but if you use them a little, they die after a while

2017-12-18 09:46:37 UTC

>stepping on li ion pouches

2017-12-18 09:46:38 UTC

yeah okay

2017-12-18 09:46:49 UTC

Not in my experience, it's luck/informed purchases

2017-12-18 09:47:21 UTC

I got one battery that had terrible cells

2017-12-18 09:47:31 UTC

Rest charges to 4.18v, so all's well

2017-12-18 09:47:39 UTC

and the voltage doesn't fall considerably

2017-12-18 09:47:43 UTC

what's your routine for checking cells?

2017-12-18 09:49:14 UTC

they look great if you ever wanted your own land mine

2017-12-18 09:49:58 UTC

@ludverk blf a6 + samsung 30q gogogo

2017-12-18 09:50:09 UTC

depends on yoru budget tho

2017-12-18 09:50:37 UTC

nvm if its going to be in your car i'd get something bigger

2017-12-18 09:53:11 UTC

i don't know, it was a 6 cell HP laptop battery that was clearly dead. most of the cells were 0.8v, some were 2.6v. i jerry riged something to revive them. just a 18650 holder with one of that little charging boards glued together. worked OK, most of them got 4

2017-12-18 09:53:18 UTC

4v or more

2017-12-18 09:54:03 UTC

i tried to make a power bank with the 2 with better voltage, but it doesnt work very well

2017-12-18 09:54:11 UTC

if below 2.5v, throw away

2017-12-18 09:54:29 UTC

sec

2017-12-18 09:54:33 UTC

i going to check those samsung

2017-12-18 09:54:55 UTC

Ok

2017-12-18 09:54:57 UTC

PROVEN STEPS

2017-12-18 09:55:10 UTC

1. Measure cell voltage, if lower than 2.5v, throw away

2017-12-18 09:55:17 UTC

2. Charge. If they get hot, throw away

2017-12-18 09:55:17 UTC

yes yes

2017-12-18 09:55:18 UTC

more deals

2017-12-18 09:55:21 UTC

<:pepestressed:327933525124841482>

2017-12-18 09:55:33 UTC

3. Measure voltage after charging. If not 4.1-4.2V, throw away

2017-12-18 09:55:46 UTC

4. Wait 30 min. If voltage fell under 4V, throw away

2017-12-18 09:55:58 UTC

@Tervy im seriously considering those dragon balls

2017-12-18 09:56:06 UTC

I don't know what I'd do with them

2017-12-18 09:56:06 UTC

5. Store in a cool, dry place for 3 days. If voltage fell by more than 0.1V, throw away

2017-12-18 09:56:09 UTC

And there you have it

2017-12-18 09:56:12 UTC

Or where I'd put them

2017-12-18 09:56:35 UTC

@TCxUFATIME if you really want some find glass ones

2017-12-18 09:57:11 UTC

those resin ones are nice probs incase you go to cons etc

2017-12-18 09:57:14 UTC

well, i left them for a month or so, after that, i checked voltages and most of them (of the ones that could get some voltage) droped

2017-12-18 09:57:18 UTC

but for showcase go with the glass

2017-12-18 09:57:25 UTC

yeah, i need some fresh batteries

2017-12-18 09:58:08 UTC

where to check coupons? 10$ for 2 is more than I'm willing to pay

2017-12-18 09:58:48 UTC

how many do u need

2017-12-18 09:59:12 UTC

@ludverk there's usually flashlight and battery coupons on the BLF forums
