i went to the post office to ask about custom charges and if I would be able to return it

you can dispute custom charges if you don't agree with it

i had a chat with a guy there who told that had the same problem and that you can ask for they money, but is impossible to get a response

I don't know. I asked, because I think is because this thing came from singapore instead of the regular tracking number that goes directly from the sorting center here in Spain but they told me that's not the reason
