update: Mi Max still going gr8 a year and a half later, battery has lost 250mah roughly in a year of heavy abuse of the thing,
metal back did bend a lil bit but it's easy to bend it back after you take the back off lmao
comfy dev scene on XDA is going well with stable Oreo roms, but sticking to 7.1.2 lineage OS 14.1 until the main actually good dev releases 15.1 in an actually good, battery efficient form tuned for this device specifically.

Used without a case or protector since I got it, screen is scratched deeply in a few places, but nothing noticeable unless I look for the slightly shimmery deep scratch areas, or I'm outdoors in which obviously the sun reveals scratches more, I've dropped it on tiles and other hard shit plenty of times and no cracks yet.

Will probably upgrade to a Mi Mix 256gb/6gb RAM model, or Mi Max 3 in future, but the Mi Max 1 holds up pretty well, especially since I have the comfy 128gb/4gb ram + SD652 model

i knew they were water resistent I just didn't think they'd survive a whole shower

2018-02-14 01:43:25 UTC

Whatever the case

2018-02-14 01:43:39 UTC

Chinese is an interesting language

2018-02-14 01:43:42 UTC

I've used this fucker in the rain too and it's shrugged shit off

2018-02-14 01:43:46 UTC

With fun swears

2018-02-14 01:44:54 UTC

anyway, Mi Max is gr8 if you wanna do autistic shit on ur phone because the typing experience is perfect on this screen size unless you're a fingerlet with comfy two thumb touch typing

2018-02-14 01:45:17 UTC

the Mi Max 2 had kernel sources released and the dev scene is finally picking up so it's tempting to grab one tbh

2018-02-14 01:45:35 UTC

the 625 and it's comfy battery life + 5300mah battery and awesome sony camera really makes it tempting

2018-02-14 01:45:40 UTC

that and vastly better build

2018-02-14 01:46:30 UTC

22same

2018-02-14 01:47:11 UTC

@Deleted User how long were you under there?

2018-02-14 01:50:46 UTC

@dissociativity how did you bend the back of the phone?

2018-02-14 01:51:37 UTC

a year of just using the thing and not really taking care of it

2018-02-14 01:51:39 UTC

it's very long

2018-02-14 01:51:45 UTC

and aluminium is flexible lol

2018-02-14 01:51:51 UTC

it bent very slightly

2018-02-14 01:51:56 UTC

like not iphone tier bad

2018-02-14 01:52:10 UTC

Anyone got any leads to good mechanical keyboards?

2018-02-14 01:52:12 UTC

which is impressive given the phone is very, very long

2018-02-14 01:52:19 UTC

like 6.44 xiaomeme

2018-02-14 01:52:24 UTC

*6.44in

2018-02-14 01:52:33 UTC

小米

2018-02-14 01:52:38 UTC

Xiaomi

2018-02-14 01:52:42 UTC

just around the button area

2018-02-14 01:52:53 UTC

that's where aluminium phones usually bend a bit

2018-02-14 01:53:04 UTC

because there's less structure due to buttons

2018-02-14 01:53:11 UTC

I honestly wish for more meat on phones, would give them space for a big ass battery, better heat management, better camera and more to stiffen it

2018-02-14 01:53:24 UTC

but like I said, I abused the thing

2018-02-14 01:53:38 UTC

battery is 4850mah and heat management is p good

2018-02-14 01:53:45 UTC

camera is decent if I use google camera

2018-02-14 01:54:04 UTC

it's 16mp omnivision so great in good lighting, kinda shit in low light but google camera vastly improves that

2018-02-14 01:54:14 UTC

the mi max 2 basically has all of that

2018-02-14 01:54:25 UTC

waiting on the max 3 for a better chipset tho

2018-02-14 01:54:35 UTC

mind you the sd 625 is immune to both meltdown and spectre

2018-02-14 01:54:42 UTC

Eh, google camera doesnt really solve any inherent problems, just makes it nicer to look at

2018-02-14 01:54:55 UTC

I mean I get noticeably more detailed images out of it

2018-02-14 01:55:07 UTC

without horrifying noise

2018-02-14 01:55:19 UTC

but it's a port made for the redmi note 3 pro
