Is Gearbest a good site?

2018-04-05 19:43:04 UTC

Had no problems with them

2018-04-05 19:43:23 UTC

Perhaps safer to get it from aliexpress and have the seller put a low value on package so you don't get fucked on customs. Not encouraging anything illegal of course, it's just theoretical

2018-04-05 20:07:40 UTC

"You can put in the USB cable either way!"

2018-04-05 20:08:12 UTC

You can put in the USB cable either way!

2018-04-05 20:09:45 UTC

AFAIK USB-C is a requirement for quick charge

2018-04-05 20:09:52 UTC

no?

2018-04-05 20:09:59 UTC

4x has its own "quick charge" technology

2018-04-05 20:10:13 UTC

I mean practically, obv you can push more current through whatever port you want

2018-04-05 20:10:14 UTC

it charges p fast, not quick charge fast but fast enough for a 4000 mAh battery

2018-04-05 20:11:22 UTC

I have quick charge without USB-C

2018-04-05 20:11:47 UTC

Also USB-C cables live longer

2018-04-05 20:12:18 UTC

Back in the dark ages of Micro USB, I had to get a new cable every 6ish months because I didn't pay attention. On the other hand, I never broke a USB-C cable

2018-04-05 20:12:28 UTC

it's a shame xiaomi doesn't put USB-C in cheaper models

2018-04-05 20:12:40 UTC

it's a much more robust, safe and comfortable port

2018-04-05 20:12:50 UTC

The fact that I can now plug my phone in properly when I'm pissed is good

2018-04-05 20:13:42 UTC

Also more and more laptops will also have USB-C in future. It's nice if every device has the same port. Which was also what USB was meant to be. And it worked pretty well for more than a decade but then devices started getting smaller

2018-04-05 20:14:09 UTC

Being able to use the same cables on every device just sounds really great to me

2018-04-05 20:17:26 UTC

I remember my first own computer set up, PS/2 for mouse and keyboard, serial port for the gamepad, parallel for the printer port...

2018-04-05 20:17:37 UTC

sorry for <#189467888657235970>ing

2018-04-05 20:22:32 UTC

@porco nah

2018-04-05 20:22:42 UTC

You had quick charge with micro usb

2018-04-05 20:23:29 UTC

I think quick charge 4.0 might need C but not sure as it's basically USB PD

2018-04-05 20:23:44 UTC

But there were deff micro USB devices with it

2018-04-05 20:23:53 UTC

Galaxy S6 etc

2018-04-05 20:24:30 UTC

But yeah usb c is great

2018-04-05 20:24:42 UTC
