but yes almost every laptop has a switch in bios that lets you disable discrete gpu (if it supports nvidia optimus to begin with)

quite easily if you consider litle to no use of dedicated GPU for the power cost

on average "i need internet" laptop

its just that their algos tend to throw GPU on even while you dont want

that's just the driver doing that

@Goz3rr actualy gpus with optimus have long history of problems relating their use on linux/mac/bsd

and even some older windows versions

But I mostly dont use the GPU at all while using the battery
Intel hd 530 does the job and If i really wanted to play fortnite I could just turn on optimus and shift

wouldn't know about that, and iirc optimus is only supported on 7 and up

not just drivers but the optimus is part of how those things are wired and how they can toggle parts unnecessary off

It's a driver that communicates with hardware property's

Its not needed but its handy
