@Tervy jelly pro is another extreme, it's so small it's unusable as a smartphone... my minimum would probably have to be 3,5". It's dissappointing because the construction seems neat and easily repairable, and I love the pebble shape. Yota is fine but I'm gonna be placing a rugged case on it anyway after my experience with the huawei g8, so 5'5 is out of question if I want a secure grip. I'm guessing the 5'2 dogee s60 would be as small as I get nowadays but a rugged 4'5" would be my idea of a compact smartphone.
Iphone SE is neat and I could sync it with my Ipad, but I don't like apple locking me into their ecosystem.
Thus far getting a refurbished xperia compact and slapping a rugged case on it seems like an option, whic stands at 4'6". Ill check the ones you mentioned

The problem with the G8 was the 2.5d glass that went all the way, almost to the aluminum edges, with about 0,2mm of plastic separating the glass and the unprotected aluminum edges. But my dad has a silicone case on his Iphone and the screen cracked anyways @bentech
