do you have access to a CNC machine?

2018-12-25 18:33:08 UTC

maybe? what's it for anyways

2018-12-25 18:47:25 UTC

design the caddy and get it printed

So let's talk socket adapters. I have some stuff I might be bringing to Japan that isn't double voltage standard rated, only 220-240V. I understand that I need an adapter that will also convert voltage to use it safely in Nippon.

2018-12-25 19:30:56 UTC

Any recommend adapters/converters for that purpose?

2018-12-25 19:46:29 UTC

Check your appliances, might be rated for 100-240V

2018-12-25 19:46:51 UTC

Like I said I'm talking about stuff that isn't double rated

2018-12-25 19:46:55 UTC

Oh, sorry

2018-12-25 19:46:56 UTC

220-240

2018-12-25 19:49:38 UTC

>not buying double rated appliances

2018-12-25 19:49:44 UTC

look for stuff with high orders and reviews

2018-12-25 20:15:33 UTC

Thanks for no help at all

2018-12-25 20:28:39 UTC

@Millwood what kind of equipment

2018-12-25 20:29:04 UTC

and what you're looking for is a transformer

2018-12-25 20:36:04 UTC

Also good luck using a transformer in Japan

2018-12-25 20:36:11 UTC

Japs don’t believe in ground plugs

2018-12-25 20:36:18 UTC

All their shit is 2 prong

2018-12-25 20:36:47 UTC

Unless it’s expensive shit just buy new 100V rated stuff

2018-12-25 20:37:21 UTC

Also Japan has 2 electrical grids at 2 different frequencies so even if you convert the voltage the frequency might be wrong still

2018-12-25 20:37:40 UTC

The Japanese Electrical Grid is basically the worst thing in existence

2018-12-25 20:39:36 UTC

It gets better: Some appliances sold in Japan will only work on one grid and will have giant warnings on them in Japanese and English saying stuff like “FOR USE IN EAST JAPAN ONLY”

2018-12-25 20:43:01 UTC

for what purpose

2018-12-25 20:43:20 UTC

why would a ground plug have anything to do with a transformer

2018-12-25 20:54:21 UTC

I'm looking at something like this then I guess?

2018-12-25 20:55:31 UTC

Wait >200 watt

2018-12-25 20:55:33 UTC

😂

2018-12-25 20:56:18 UTC

@Goz3rr because any 100 to 200 transformer will have a ground prong

2018-12-25 20:57:27 UTC

no?

2018-12-25 20:57:51 UTC

a transformer has no need to be grounded, if it has a ground plug it's purely a direct connection to the one on the other side

2018-12-25 20:58:13 UTC

So that's more like it, 2k watt

@Millwood what do you need to power though that isn't compatible

2018-12-25 21:00:46 UTC

Hair dryer for my gf

2018-12-25 21:00:53 UTC

It was on the expensive side

2018-12-25 21:01:08 UTC

well aren't you in luck then that it says for hair dryer use only <:alismirk:230784726615588865>
