i'm looking to run a distro on it
can't you just use a usb 3.0 flashdrive
can't you achieve better speeds with an external ssd?
i think in any case you're limited by whatever you're connected by
so just usb 3
doesn't usb 3 top out at like 5 gbps?
it seems like the type of storage would be the limiting factor
o ya
then i guess you should get an ssd if you want fast
that's below most SSDs sequential read speeds
fucking bits and bytes
well 3.1 supports 10 gbps
so 1250
yes but then you need an enclosure that supports that
and ports on your pc
don't buy chink SSDs
decent brands are the same price now that 3d nand went on sale
adata SU650 is like £17 for 120GB and £30 for 240GB
it's cheaper than USB flash
I used SD/micro SD/USB flash (samsung) and they all wear out
just don't buy cheap flash memory when SSDs are so cheap
£17.50
yep and crucial mx500 are on sale recently
get a usb3->sata enclosure for $5 on ali
this
adata su650
Ard capn
my samsung 128GB memory stick used to be 150MB/sec read and 100MB/sec write
after 2 years it now does 120MB read and 21MB write
that's after formatting it again
sadly 3D shit is fragile as fuck too
how so
It can handle temperatures that well without degradation feom what i have heard
But yeah not everyday problems
Cant tho say was it controllera fault or actual memory parts fault
Reason probly why stuff like samsung 970 uses heatspreaders on their m.2
