Oh
Yeah
Weren't they like the part of the Canada that was independent for the longest?
My friend lives there and he is just not interested in any of the women there because he's convinced they're all inbred.
Not independent.
Well
They were a subject of Great Britain for the longest.
You know what I mean
But they didn't enter the confederation until 1950.
Independent from Cannacuk rule
Yeah
Newfies are based though. Nicest people you'll ever meet.
Work obsessed though.
Every Newfie I've met isn't a dogfucker like most maritimers are.
Workaholics are the worst
I could understand working hard when you're working for yourself, but for some fucking CEO of some fucking wageslave corporation that will kindly give you back a small amount of the profit you produced?
No thanks
Most of them are tradespeople and laborers. The joke used to be that the biggest city in Newfoundland was Fort MacMurray because so many of them were oil workers in Alberta.
>tradespeople
That's what my Dad does now, he started his own company with just himself and Mom so now he's in a corporate tax bracket and contracts all of his work out.
Now that's understandable
A lot of maritimers are physical laborers.
The Mexicans of Canada really
Based af
Or Hohols of Canada
Nah we have Ukrainians out in Alberta and the praries.
They came here during the 1800's for whatever reason
My grandpa hated them and my aunt married an RCMP officer with Ukrainian heritage so that was always interesting dinner discussion.
Prolly cause Russian empire was poor af then and you could get sent to Siberia for advocating independent Ukraine
Just like for any other nation of Russian empire
That was also the time when a lot of Poles emigrated to the New World
Mostly from Congress Kingdom of Poland, but also from Prussia (Grand Duchy of Poznan) and Austria (Kingdom of Galicia-Volhynia)
Yeah I got some family that came here around that time as well to be coal miners.
From east Prussia
Yeah, but they were Germans and from German part of the Prussia, so it's a bit of a different thing
In case of Poles and Ukrainians it was often too avoid persecution
Yeet.
Because of political views
Yeah I think the Ukrainians here was facing some religious opposition
Or something like that.
And taking part in uprisings
