2019-08-12 19:23:19 UTC

it means root

2019-08-12 19:23:32 UTC

yeah I just checked

2019-08-12 19:23:32 UTC

And yes I'm American

2019-08-12 19:23:39 UTC

hah burger

2019-08-12 19:23:52 UTC

I wish I had a burger right now

2019-08-12 19:25:07 UTC

me too.

2019-08-12 20:13:26 UTC

I was just reading about gun laws in different EU countries

2019-08-12 20:13:51 UTC

I didn't expect that in so many countries self-defence using firearms is illegal

2019-08-12 20:13:55 UTC

That's fucking weird

2019-08-12 20:16:19 UTC

it kind of is in canada but also not

2019-08-12 20:16:30 UTC

it's "reasonable force"

2019-08-12 20:16:51 UTC

which means it's dealt by common law so it's a judge who decides whether you were justified

2019-08-12 20:17:28 UTC

which is why conservatives will be really mad all of the time when it's like "FATHER USES GUN TO DEFEND HIS FAMILY, GET'S CHARGED WITH MURDER"

2019-08-12 20:17:36 UTC

Yeah, but in a lot of cases you can't even get a license for a gun with purpose of self-defence

2019-08-12 20:17:38 UTC

but he gets cleared of the charge afterwards

2019-08-12 20:18:41 UTC

Our far-right always complain about our gun laws, but apparently we have one of the least strict in Europe

2019-08-12 20:19:23 UTC

austria and switzerland are better

2019-08-12 20:19:33 UTC

I think finland is ok too

2019-08-12 20:19:51 UTC

Nope, in Finland guns for self-defence are illegal

2019-08-12 20:20:24 UTC

And you can't get a carry permit for them obviously, conealed or open

2019-08-12 20:20:36 UTC

They have a lot of guns, but they're all are hunting riffles

2019-08-12 20:21:18 UTC

:If, however, you own firearms for a legitimate purpose – such as target practice or hunting – and you choose to employ them in a self defence situation against a person, and whether or not you would be considered righteous in court, is a can of worms that I am neither qualified nor willing to open. Suffice it to say that, at best, it would be a painful process."

2019-08-12 20:21:55 UTC

Switzerland recently voluntarily slightly restricted their gun laws and they always were weird, though I think they're rather lease

2019-08-12 20:21:57 UTC

it's not that painful, you get charged with murder and when the judge figures out the guy who was in your house was trying to rape your daughter he clears the charges

2019-08-12 20:22:05 UTC

Czech Republic doesn't have strict laws

2019-08-12 20:22:12 UTC

And that'd be it for EU

2019-08-12 20:22:50 UTC

There's abundance of weapons, both licensed and unlicensed in former Yugoslavia though

2019-08-12 20:23:47 UTC

I'm not sure how the situation looks now, but back in the days most of firearms used for illegal ectivities in Europ came form ex-yu

2019-08-12 20:25:51 UTC

basically you can defend yourself in canada, you *can't* buy a gun for the purpose of self defence but if you're in the country and some people come with knives to kill you and steal your property you can take out the 12 gauge and shoot them and the judge will take your side

2019-08-12 20:26:17 UTC

you can't open carry though

2019-08-12 20:26:17 UTC

Bosnia has a funny law, where you can carry registered pepper spray if you're female

2019-08-12 20:26:31 UTC

Does that really happen though

2019-08-12 20:26:44 UTC

People comming with knives to kill you and steal your property

2019-08-12 20:26:46 UTC

I mean

2019-08-12 20:27:00 UTC

I mean, if you live in the country it could happen at any time. if the police are 30 minutes away yeah

2019-08-12 20:27:26 UTC

people have been killed on their own country property when there's no police around

2019-08-12 20:28:34 UTC

Wew

2019-08-12 20:28:42 UTC

that's a part of why people need guns in the country, that and wild animals
