2019-01-26 20:18:19 UTC

I know it happened some half and a week ago, but I forgot to post it here

2019-01-26 20:18:35 UTC

CNN seems to be truly as shitty as it's told to be tbh

2019-01-26 20:19:12 UTC

The whole thing is a bit funny for me, because not so long ago I was talking a lot about how there wasn't any political murder in Poland for so long

2019-01-26 20:22:36 UTC

They stabbed him cuz why?

2019-01-26 20:23:04 UTC

Oh cuz he criticized conservatism

2019-01-26 20:24:02 UTC

There was a guy who went to the prison for 5 years for bank robbery or sth
And he got mad on him for that

2019-01-26 20:24:10 UTC

You could ask - how is it a political murder?

2019-01-26 20:32:01 UTC

But the thing is, that our current ruling party claims that our former ruling party (which Adamowicz was member of) and other people that are part of the "układ" (system) controls the Polish judiciary
And both sides were fighting over the judiciary system and the reforms proposed by our ruling party (EU was involved in that too)
But the most important thing is, that political climate here isn't the most healthy one and members of one "political camp" sometimes even call to physically harm the members of the other "camp" and stuff like that (for example the older case of some female MP calling to shave one of other female MP's head)
And since our ruling party laid their hands on public TV, they got a really powerful propaganda machine

2019-01-26 20:33:28 UTC

So it was only a matter of time when somebody will get hurt, but I think they were hoping it would be someone from their side, so they would have a martyr and could use the thing in the upcoming election campaign

2019-01-26 20:33:52 UTC

But now I think that the opposition will benefit more from the incident

2019-01-26 20:35:05 UTC

Interesting

2019-01-26 20:58:48 UTC

I decided to get up-to-date with news from last 3 weeks, but I'm giving up
There's just everything - two affairs with Chinese spies (and Huawei company), American officials telling our government what to do again, drug affair in health ministry (it seems that in this case Yankees had their part too), teachers' strike, another strike in Biedronka/Jeronimo Martins chain store, another affair with father Rydzyk and state owned companies and this murder of Gdańsk's mayor I've posted before

2019-01-27 04:48:14 UTC

@laurefinwë regarding public transport: I live 120km from my job and it'd take me 5 hours each way to take transit _if_ the trains ran the proper direction

2019-01-27 06:49:48 UTC

I mean, I know that Americans don't use public transport because there is basically no public transport beside NY
And that's a problem the map was pointing out

@laurefinwë even if there were America is much less urbanized than Europe. There's a lot more land here for people to spread out

2019-01-27 19:19:40 UTC

And I could get away with it now if I wanted to pay my car payment in extra rent

2019-01-27 19:20:58 UTC

Yeah, but that doesn't explain why there's no public transtport in cities
I understand that there's no way there would be a bus every 30 minutes to every shithole village or town in the west
But metro system, trams and similar means of urban public transport would do just as good in US as they do everywhere else

2019-01-27 19:21:18 UTC

Almost every major city has that fam

2019-01-27 19:22:21 UTC

And I only say almost because I can't think of every city's public transit offhand

2019-01-27 19:23:13 UTC

Dunno, I've heard that for example in LA you literally can't live without having a car, because there is no other way to get around there

2019-01-27 19:23:40 UTC

That's not true. I was just there and inside the city there's plenty of bus and train

2019-01-27 19:23:58 UTC

If you live 15 miles outside the city in Santa Monica sure

2019-01-27 19:24:15 UTC

Then apparently I got misinformed

2019-01-27 19:24:47 UTC

Happens fairly often

2019-01-27 19:24:55 UTC

Although from my experience in Florida I have to say that public transport there is pretty non-existent compared to cities in Poland

2019-01-27 19:25:10 UTC

Also keep in mind "cant live without a car" means something different to Americans than it would to you

2019-01-27 19:25:25 UTC

How does it?

2019-01-27 19:26:19 UTC

I lived without one for years and it was inconvenient but not undoable

2019-01-27 19:27:25 UTC

But a lot of people have said they wouldn't do what I did

2019-01-27 19:31:30 UTC

tfw no car

2019-01-27 19:45:29 UTC

Tfw can't get a license

2019-01-27 19:46:25 UTC

"Независимый Канал" sounds like some propaganda channel tbh

2019-01-27 19:59:20 UTC

Stoped watching here

2019-01-27 20:00:06 UTC

If we're gonna get rid of Hohols, then ~~Lviv~~ Lwów will have to come back to its motherland
