Lol

2019-02-04 19:54:41 UTC

If anyone could have any territorial claims here it would be Poland, not Germany

2019-02-04 19:54:56 UTC

>Masuria

2019-02-04 19:55:00 UTC

>Upper Silesia

2019-02-04 19:57:10 UTC

I'd say that upper silesia has a stronger claim in the hands of Czechs than Poles.

2019-02-04 19:57:17 UTC

Also that's where my Grandpa was from

2019-02-04 19:57:26 UTC

But back in his day it was Germany.

2019-02-04 19:58:31 UTC

Do I know, Silesians speak a dialect of Polish and are closer culturally to Poles
The whole Silesia was under the Czech rule for quite a time, but their cultural impact on these lands was pretty non-existing compared to Germans

2019-02-04 20:04:08 UTC

And how many people speak Silesian?

2019-02-04 20:04:17 UTC

Over German or Polish?

2019-02-04 20:06:17 UTC

Although I suppose nowadays the German language has been mostly purged out of Prussian land given to Poland.

2019-02-04 20:06:27 UTC

Probably the same with the native Prussians.

2019-02-04 20:54:00 UTC

>Prussian land
I hate when people use it when they obviously don't mean actual Prussia

2019-02-04 20:54:38 UTC

And there wasn't many ethnic Germans there anyway, mostly germanised local population

2019-02-04 20:56:03 UTC

Silesian isn't very widely spoken, but it's still used, even by younger generation

2019-02-04 20:57:04 UTC

Actual Prussia as in the pre-German confederation kingdom?

2019-02-04 20:57:15 UTC

Or Prussia as in, all of Prussia including Polish held territory?

2019-02-04 20:58:18 UTC
2019-02-04 21:00:25 UTC

Although imo this map is a bit exaggerated
When you say "Prussia" as in region, it usually doesn't include Gdańsk Pomerania and eastern Lithuania (Kłajpeda, etc.)

2019-02-04 21:01:14 UTC

Yeah I was gonna say

2019-02-04 21:01:43 UTC

Seems odd that it extends into the baltics as much as it does

2019-02-04 21:02:07 UTC

Also the map's not in English which kinda sucks

2019-02-04 21:07:30 UTC

What's the difference? There's nothing important written there anyway

2019-02-04 21:07:41 UTC

Just "historical regions of old Prussia"
