Medieval Europe was barbaric by most accounts, but I can’t say I wouldn’t mind the reintroduction of some of their methods of justice, the idea that beheadings are merciful. The medieval Europeans had torturers and executioners, methods included using tongs to tear off chunks of flesh, wheels to brake bones, impairment, flaying of the skin.
