wym
the weight isn't crazy, like 1lb per mag
but the bulk sucks
unless half of those are in a pack
Carrying 12 mags being wack or the need for 12 mags
Being wack
Because there's plenty of ancedotal evidence saying 12 mags is pretty normal if not preferable to anyone actually doing any shooting
i mean it really depends what you're doing
there are also lots of units that never carry over 7-8
Yeah but what are they doing, like I don't expect VBSS niggas or SFABs do carry more than 8
nah
You don’t carry all your mags on your carrier
Yeah
i mean if chuck pressburg is anything to go by, most of the units doing nighttime direct action stuff only carried like 4 on body
You can either put extras in a pack or have them in your vehicle
So a plate carrier supporting 12-16 mags is whack
But that's my point, with the AVS, you'd never go past 8 mags
or similar amounts
they go in your pack
ok now i understand wym
fair
so you'd never reach a weight where the harness is ever appreciable
or noticable
🤔
You said a 12-16 mag loadout isn’t crazy
sorry didn't specify pack
and kind of pulled that number out of my ass for a "standard"
i mean fair
i think you would have to get up to a pretty heavy setup for the harness to carry its own weight
at which point you're pushing the bounds of what a reasonable combat load is anyways
Exactly
if you're like some poor fuck who has to carry a manpack radio or something i could kinda see it
idk
And like Ein and you said, it's mostly just airsofters who really parrot the benefits of the AVS
And larpers
then again all the heaviest shit you probably don't want permanently attached to your rear platebag
idk it could be nice if you had heavy stuff like radios, breaching gear, etc on the zip panels
the other factor is if you're a super manlet
and a normal person combat load is a high % of your bodyweight
so it's like you're carrying a lot even though you're just carrying a normal amount
