Its just the better version of your current watch
Yeah I think thats what I'll buy
And at that point it seems worth getting the nato straps, or straps with a decent compass on it
Theres lots of compatable stuff with the g shocks
Mid teir daily use i reccomend em
I know there are a billion different g-shocks with a billion different features
Anything neat the most basic one does? I know there is one with a barometer and one with a thermometer. I'm almost certain there is one with a compass.
mine has a thermometer and a compass
I saw the bearing marks on yours but didnt see the actual compass
Ohhh
Now I notice it
the second hand becomes a compass
you push the big side button
also top right display is stored bearing
Mine is standard multi time zone 3 alarm and the feature that turns your light on when you turn you wrist
it’s not a extremely accurate though
enough to do really basic land navigation
Reckon it'd be enough for hiking/camping? Thats why I really want a watch with a compass
yeah
I can remember landmarks well enough to think “north east on the way out, south west on the way back”
Man tie it to your pack
I wouldn’t go long distances in a flat desert though
Nah I live innawoods and every place I want to go is innawoods
Or onnamountain
you’ll probably be fine but I can give no guarantees
I’d carry the compass watch and a small backup in the pack
doesn’t take up any space
I wouldnt trust a watch compass
I should just leave my hike/camp gear alone when I get home but I unpack everything and put it up
So naturally I forget a thing or two sometimes when I prepare it the day before
See alright
Felt really stupid when I brought a map and no compass, and vice versa
yeah the nice thing about a watch compass is that you always have a compass
there’s no way you end up with nothing
Whatever piece of gear is necissary to bring
Tie your compass to it
even if it’s not the most accurate it’s better than nothing
Even when stored
I leave mine in my bag 24/7
