are special threat plates a better choice than level 4s when it comes to weight and protection factors? Do most users here run spec threat or just level 4?

2019-12-17 05:40:43 UTC

Pros and cons for each. You just have to weigh them. Asking yourself questions like "what kind of threats am I likely to face" and "will I be more likely to wear my armor if it's comfortable"

2019-12-17 05:41:18 UTC

i can't speak for people in here, but most people in general just get level 4 so they know they're covered against whatever

2019-12-17 05:42:59 UTC

when you start selling plates for gov and private contracts and deployments, you start looking at the actual threats the wearer is likely to face

2019-12-17 05:43:18 UTC

>protection factors
🤔

2019-12-17 05:43:30 UTC

so it might be perfectly fine to put someone in a light weight, low vis steel plate that's rated against M43 because thats what he's gonna get shot at with

2019-12-17 05:43:34 UTC

Weight to protection ratio* soz

2019-12-17 05:43:41 UTC

>steel

2019-12-17 05:44:01 UTC

theres specialty steel armor for discreet wear, that isn't AR500

2019-12-17 05:44:28 UTC

Yeah but why

2019-12-17 05:44:34 UTC

i'm just talking about the realities of the market, not whether something is a good idea

2019-12-17 05:44:46 UTC

@tacticoolyourjets to stop niggas from finding out you're a poorfag

2019-12-17 05:44:47 UTC

and why you have special threat plates

2019-12-17 05:44:56 UTC

Discrete wear is important for steel

2019-12-17 05:45:22 UTC

I think ill just do what dim is doing but with 3810s instead, then pick up level 4s down the line

2019-12-17 05:45:58 UTC

If you're going to do the whole "threats I'm likely to face"

2019-12-17 05:46:06 UTC

then that would be nothing larpers

2019-12-17 05:46:10 UTC

^

2019-12-17 05:46:11 UTC

: ^ )

2019-12-17 05:46:36 UTC

at least if you're going to buy it based on "threats I'm likely to face and be wearing my plates"

2019-12-17 05:46:49 UTC

Boog memes aside the 3810 should do just fine for anything not armor piercing

2019-12-17 05:46:51 UTC

anything beyond an extremely comfortable kevlar vest is just a no go for a normal every day life

2019-12-17 05:47:19 UTC

Lvs gang is powerful

2019-12-17 05:47:29 UTC

Which if its other larpers I have only a small chance of encountering because of how drawn out the process is to buy ap rounds

2019-12-17 05:47:30 UTC

which is one reason they make full coverage steel ultra low vis plates. VIPs can wear them under a suit all day

2019-12-17 05:47:36 UTC

Discrete wear steel is legit, Velocity Systems makes some good stuff in that regard

2019-12-17 05:47:40 UTC

Tencate as well

2019-12-17 05:47:43 UTC

although slick plate carriers are good for a larp

2019-12-17 05:47:55 UTC

and would actually be more useful than non discrete for the big igloo

2019-12-17 05:47:56 UTC

Just not AR500, with their 2/3" of truck bed liner bullshit on top pls

2019-12-17 05:48:07 UTC

or if you're at an increased chance of getting shot for whatever reason

2019-12-17 05:48:13 UTC

Off topic but I like how Trudeau doesn't even try to be low vis anymore

2019-12-17 05:48:21 UTC

i dont know what steel velsys uses on those but its probably proprietary

and its definitely not cheap

2019-12-17 05:48:32 UTC

they have so much armour on him now that day of the rake is close

2019-12-17 05:48:53 UTC

See the problem with that if you're not the aggressor (eg. kicking in doors)

2019-12-17 05:48:57 UTC

Wait trudeau is wearing armor 24/7? lmao post pics

2019-12-17 05:48:59 UTC

It will stop m855 and m193, which seems just fine for me, as well as upto 30.06 jsp

2019-12-17 05:48:59 UTC

nah they're armoring him up purposefully to demonize the opposition
