If you examine it at face value it seems absurd

2019-12-17 06:22:35 UTC

it's how many they can take

2019-12-17 06:22:37 UTC

@|||ST yes

2019-12-17 06:22:40 UTC

thats how it works

2019-12-17 06:22:44 UTC

its or, not and

2019-12-17 06:22:46 UTC

don't listen to anyone else

2019-12-17 06:22:49 UTC

listen to me

2019-12-17 06:23:25 UTC

it helps for the plate to build up resistance with the smaller rounds

2019-12-17 06:23:51 UTC

Is that impacts in the same location?

2019-12-17 06:24:03 UTC

@CTL all those rounds on the same plate or nah?

2019-12-17 06:24:06 UTC

Pistols kill far more than any other weapon. Cops didn't used to have ready access to lightweight high level armor. AP handgun rounds could penetrate their soft panels. Banned. It's still an infringement, but the argument for officer safety is pretty strong.

2019-12-17 06:24:10 UTC

go read the testing criteria

2019-12-17 06:24:48 UTC

*ahem*

2019-12-17 06:28:51 UTC

😎

2019-12-17 06:28:53 UTC

no i mean like

2019-12-17 06:28:56 UTC

yes

2019-12-17 06:29:11 UTC

Youre telling me that plate can take all 36 of those rounds?

2019-12-17 06:29:32 UTC

the tl;dr is the NIJ test is a single round of 30-06, tested in a couple different ways on different plates

2019-12-17 06:29:44 UTC

w2c

2019-12-17 06:29:59 UTC

Hesco just tests their plates separately and tells you how many rounds of a given caliber it takes to compromise the plate

2019-12-17 06:31:30 UTC

normally you take self-certified plate tests with a grain of salt, but the plate has already passed the NIJ test so you have nothing to lose by believing hesco's in-house ratings

2019-12-17 06:31:36 UTC

no

2019-12-17 06:31:40 UTC

it's "or"

2019-12-17 06:31:43 UTC

not "and"

2019-12-17 06:31:52 UTC

oh ok

2019-12-17 06:32:12 UTC

that's what they're rated to

2019-12-17 06:32:16 UTC

it could probably take more

2019-12-17 06:32:43 UTC

i wonder if hesco follows the NIJ back face deformation criteria for that test. i would assume so

2019-12-17 06:33:06 UTC

typically composite plates will go a lot further than 6 rounds if you dont count BFD

2019-12-17 06:33:08 UTC

I mean bfd or not if you get hit 6 times in a row im sure youre gonna have some internal bleeding

2019-12-17 06:33:27 UTC

Or a wicked mad bruise

2019-12-17 06:34:43 UTC

depends on the round

2019-12-17 06:35:12 UTC

6 rounds of 30.06

2019-12-17 06:35:14 UTC

?

2019-12-17 06:35:18 UTC

You'd have to be pretty close range for even a skilled operator to make 6 quick hits to your torso
