Security guard here. I'm as respectful as I can be and do my best to be kind and helpful to everyone I interact with. The bottom line is that people just don't like being told they can't do something. Whenever someone's butt hurt and having an attitude moment, in my head I'm internally imagining them screaming "YOU'RE NOT MY DAD" while patiently waiting for them to either get tired of using me as a surrogate for their deep seated issues with anything resembling an authority figure, fuck off, or do something I can fuck them up for. Unlike most security guards, my employer has my back if shit needs to get physical, and I'm packing in case something goes real wrong. I'd really prefer if you could find some other way to work through your issues if possible though. I did two tours in Iraq and I will absolutely fuck you up if I need to, but I'd prefer not to.

I always think of that old adage about how the way you treat people you don't need anything from reflects your character.
