I'm fucking excited to witness the death throes of the AR-15.
... and it's a damn good thing. For far too long the AR-15 has held the monopoly on lightweight and modular small arms, despite its inherent glaring design flaws (a gas system that spews fouling and carbon right back into the heart of the rifle, a buffer tube system that makes it impossible to add something as simple as a folding stock without expensive and relatively heavy workarounds (inb4 people sperg out about "muh linear recoil impulse" as if the marginal benefits it provides are more important than the benefits of doing without), a generally non-ambi design in most of its forms, etc. People are even trying to shoehorn calibers into the rifle that it's not designed for and having to sacrifice on aspects that there is no reason to (see: 6.5 grendel and its pressure maximum being limited by the strength of the AR-15 bolt that had to be cut down to accommodate it).
