you cannot accurately torque your barrel nut without it and there will be nothing preventing the steel from seizing to the aluminum
And then skip forward to the part where you fuck up torquing the nut
Bro my engine doesn’t need oil yet I just wanna make sure everything runs correctly first before I waste 11 dollars
yea im just gonna put the oil filter on to see if it works haha
I’m looking forward to the part where he goes to his first range trip and the gun is either horribly inaccurate or unreliable and he tries to blame the parts
or the classic castle nut walks off
Faxon and aero are meme brands
Literally everything I've seen shows them having plenty of wiggle room to do it without grease.
you are missing the point
You're on the tight side of tolerance, congrats that's a good thing. Lube it up
the grease isnt essential for ease of handling, its essential for other reasons, it just happens to help with fitting
Damn dude
You’ve been watching some dipshit on YouTube filming in his dim house with a mattress on the floor in the background as he mumbles into the camera and fumbles with parts one handed
you are torquing a (likely) steel barrel nut onto an aluminum thread
or at least different grades of aluminum
this *is* something you can fuck up, horribly
Fuck it it’s just a gun
Do you have the barrel nut and handguard yet?
inb4 he pins the gb before putting the nut on
I wasn't going to torque the barrel nut, jesus.
Damn I've done that before
And yes, I have it.
But it was the metal ring on t91 handguard
Have what
it only damaged my pride, nothing else
Pinned the flash hider with parts missing
The handguard. I have everything to make it functional aside from an optic.
And my gas block has set screws.
Do you have headspace gauges?
Nyet.
No AR15 Lego 'builder' has headspace gauges
Correct
i mean im a hobby gunsmith and i dont have headspace gauges
I have an AR15 and I'm a Lego builder and I have never headspaced a gun
if my shit blows up that will be my punishment
And yet they continue to have kabooms on ar15 snob free
Heres a mockup. Everything forward of the receiver is obviously not torqued.
Tight is more common than loose anyways
I headspace gauge everything I build
I have them for AKs, but I just buy barreled uppers normally
