i saw the first episode just 2 hours ago

2019-12-30 18:20:11 UTC

i find it cringingly mediocre

2019-12-30 18:20:13 UTC

I wouldn't give a 7/10 to most series

2019-12-30 18:20:14 UTC

it feels very cheap

2019-12-30 18:20:38 UTC

@l3x dont understand me wrong, many, many people say the same, that they liked the short stories but but the saga was somewhat way worse

2019-12-30 18:21:08 UTC

it's just I don't see a single actual reason why would you argue some, I don't see any lesser quality in writing the saga

2019-12-30 18:21:10 UTC

like, i'd be ashamed to market such a let-down as hard as netflix is doing right now

2019-12-30 18:21:13 UTC

it's just a different form

2019-12-30 18:21:22 UTC

i dislike the destiny/bloodlines aspects alot, they feel so forced

2019-12-30 18:21:25 UTC

and boring

2019-12-30 18:21:31 UTC

muh destiny

2019-12-30 18:21:43 UTC

the magic does look cheap, but I can enjoy watching television theater whey thay have props cut out of cardboard and painted lightbulbs to produce special effects

2019-12-30 18:21:47 UTC

when people argue that short stories are good and the saga I just don't see them raising any valid point at all <:thonking:318673885497262091>

2019-12-30 18:21:50 UTC

(like old dr who)

2019-12-30 18:22:10 UTC

it feels super cheap, and the vfx are often direct-to-video movie tier

2019-12-30 18:22:46 UTC

>it feels very cheap
the budget is rather high the thing is they went straight into the magic and the big magic, its a big drain on the budget PLUS witcher is a high fantasy universe and you need that cgi practically everywhere

2019-12-30 18:22:54 UTC

my only gripes with saga: ciri is an OP OC fanfic tier(donut steel), and the whole destiny crap

2019-12-30 18:23:20 UTC

and the dialogue is awful

2019-12-30 18:23:38 UTC

super naive and/or fake

2019-12-30 18:24:31 UTC

the fight scenes were good, with infrequent cuts

2019-12-30 18:24:46 UTC

netflix 2/10, books 8/10, gaems 7/10

2019-12-30 18:25:00 UTC

>books 8/10

2019-12-30 18:25:01 UTC

but the "destiny" in saga is well founded and not really forced it doesn't appear that often, it's well founded because there's a neatly done historical background to it(the elvish prophecy) and also the "scientific" aspect of the bloodline

2019-12-30 18:25:01 UTC

lol

2019-12-30 18:25:42 UTC

the author goes quite in depth into that and the pieces are revealed step by step over the saga

2019-12-30 18:26:17 UTC

so yeah i dont see writing mistakes as such

2019-12-30 18:26:42 UTC

thing is, i mean to read it again

2019-12-30 18:27:08 UTC

has someone finally translated into english, but professionally

2019-12-30 18:27:16 UTC

i love all the neat details in witcher books with the songs, prophecy, "encyclopedic" definitions

2019-12-30 18:27:18 UTC

i read the early en translation

2019-12-30 18:27:36 UTC

which is horrible

2019-12-30 18:27:51 UTC

also i loved vilgefortz : )

2019-12-30 18:28:02 UTC

hmm idk

2019-12-30 18:28:07 UTC

havent even seen it in english

2019-12-30 18:28:18 UTC

my favourite thing about the books, that it has the tolkien's middle-earth feeling, that the world is changing

2019-12-30 18:28:32 UTC

the old magic is nearing its end

2019-12-30 18:28:53 UTC

my favourite aspect is that the world is grey

2019-12-30 18:29:02 UTC

like the part where the sorceress has a dream with a witcher, in the forest

2019-12-30 18:29:13 UTC

how she calls him geralt

2019-12-30 18:29:17 UTC

> my favourite aspect is that the world is grey

2019-12-30 18:29:19 UTC

lmao
