it makes the story more "believable"
you could almost believe it could have happened in the real world, but thats in part thanks to the low-fantasy setting as well
And characters behave like a real medieval men, unlike in, for example, Ridley Scott's movies
Take "Gladiator" for example
its cool that there are pure fantasy elements like magic but they were for the most of the series kept low
so they are kind of like our legends
Not even talking about armors and weapons in it. An Emperor who decided to fight with a gladiator in arena. Do you realize that it's like our modern Presidents participating in a porn movie?
@rogalik it's cool that magic is not piff-puff stuff like in the Witcher.
In the books it's even less piff-puff stuff
well actually witcher isn't even that much detached by modern standards...
look at american """"""fantasy"""""""" ...
oh about gladiator
Detached?
meh I
I mean that
dont know how to convey that
really
hmm
🤔
they still arent too overblown in witcher
Ah, yes, probably
Comparing to some complete shit books they aren't
but of course compared to game of thrones its a different level
but still its a different setting so
I'd say there is nothing wrong with that in witcher
Still muh fireballs and stuff are not interesting to read about. Some... mental magic, rituals, and stuff like this are much more exciting
when you read the books there is a lot of information and lore about those things
even technicalities
so he does make effort to make it "believable"
have you read wiedzmin?
Yes
there arent much fireballs
there are fireballs when they are fighting
Mmm
but thats all really
Well in the big battles for example
There are
there are other aspects of magic too
and they were well explored in the series
