GDP is corporate wealth in America...not personal wealth per citizen.

2018-02-27 03:32:55 UTC

wages havent grown

2018-02-27 03:32:59 UTC

So? Higher GDP means better QoL

2018-02-27 03:33:03 UTC

personal debt still rising

2018-02-27 03:33:16 UTC

the whole thing is dangerously unstable

2018-02-27 03:33:27 UTC

Higher GDP means government and corporations have more power/capital...that's it.

2018-02-27 03:33:31 UTC

Wages have grown if you account for benefits

2018-02-27 03:33:37 UTC

What measure of average earning is there for the people?

2018-02-27 03:33:56 UTC

That's the true GDP in my eyes...not what corporations are raking in.

2018-02-27 03:34:01 UTC

The Gini Coefficient is usually a better metric than GDP

2018-02-27 03:34:08 UTC

It's about the people...fuck the country and corporations.

2018-02-27 03:34:20 UTC

Sure, a country's GDP may rise but if that wealth is being distributed disproportionately does it really matter?

2018-02-27 03:34:21 UTC

What is a country without it's people?

2018-02-27 03:34:31 UTC

@Uriel Exactly.

2018-02-27 03:34:36 UTC

Yeah Afghanistan is great with their 0.28 gini

2018-02-27 03:34:40 UTC

question

2018-02-27 03:34:40 UTC

GDP is a measure of the 1% wealth.

2018-02-27 03:35:05 UTC

That wealth was slaved away for by the people.

2018-02-27 03:35:09 UTC

They get none of it back.

2018-02-27 03:35:13 UTC

Queef do you think the 1% create wealth for the people lol?

2018-02-27 03:35:13 UTC

This whole obsession with equality is stupid

2018-02-27 03:35:17 UTC

No one is equal

2018-02-27 03:35:31 UTC

No one is equal...but they should be treated as such.

2018-02-27 03:35:36 UTC

That's the law.

2018-02-27 03:35:49 UTC

The most equalizing force on the planet.

2018-02-27 03:35:52 UTC

morally outrageous @fannybandit

2018-02-27 03:35:54 UTC

does being wooed by my girlfriend make me a soyboy? she was even the one who started our conversations

2018-02-27 03:36:15 UTC

Idk.

2018-02-27 03:36:21 UTC

talking to women makes you a soyboy

2018-02-27 03:36:25 UTC

im told

2018-02-27 03:36:36 UTC

I don't necessarily advocate for total equality in the sense that all residents of a country are earning a similar wage; what does concern me, however, is the reality of individuals making 450K living a twenty minute drive from people who cannot sustain themselves

2018-02-27 03:36:36 UTC

@Nicholas91 Morals should be the foundation of function among the people and in a nation.

2018-02-27 03:36:51 UTC

Without morals, we have nothing to talk or argue about.

2018-02-27 03:36:51 UTC

agreed

2018-02-27 03:37:16 UTC

At the very least, in wealthy countries I would expect that every individual should have the mere capacity to lead a healthy life

2018-02-27 03:37:26 UTC

Exactly.

2018-02-27 03:37:36 UTC

Otherwise, what's the point of government?

2018-02-27 03:37:45 UTC

That's where the debate gets interesting

2018-02-27 03:37:45 UTC

To keep funneling money from the poor to the rich?

2018-02-27 03:38:34 UTC

The huge divide is that some believe a Government simply exists to give the simplest protections (property rights, safety, and only a few more things) vs. others who believe the Government exists to ensure that all citizens are able to lead a "good" or at least modest life
