NIJ testing literally costs 10s of thousands of dollars

And most armor companies do not produce the volume to mitigate that cost

Hence why their plates are 2-300 bucks instead of 100

With the new NIJ Standards many companies are just waiting to get there plates tested on the new standard instead of wasting the money on the old standard
