I want to get a chest rig, just really unsure yet what to get. I read here plates are heavy af
not really mine are on the heavy end and I think come out to like 7 pounds each?
Depends on your physical condition if you can hump it.
I'm 6'3 315lbs so extra weight doesn't bother me. As long as I'm not running I can go all day.
for carrier the gtg for cheap are: AWS OCPC, Crye JPC, Banshee 3.0, and (that one AR500 with back panel higher up on the straps)
I'm already carrying around extra weight anyways lol
Slayer id say it depends on ur build and mental character. If ur a small skinny guy plates are gonna be more of a burden especially if ur not used to it. If ur a big dude just suck it up and wear plates lol
Lol I'm 5'10 225 but not physically fit.
I don't think I'll be fit by tomorrow lol
Back lol
Lol u ain’t gonna have the plates for like 6 weeks anyways. Lead time is a bitch.
What company for plates
Ar500 is like 3 months lead right now
Fuck AR500 lol
Get some ceramics
Fuck that. I drop stuff too much for thatm
W e had 3/8 ar500 at work I was gonna grab but a welder made targets for home with it
get ceramics
Mine are Ar500. But I got em a few years ago when ceramic was still like 1k per plate
support hoplite they are on team boog
Hell yeah
that is the only acceptable reason stephen
Slayer that’s how u die
3/8 in plates from ur welder friend are gonna get u punctured
Yeah hoplite is definitely the way I would go if I got em today
He was saying he had ar500 plates at work but then welder took them home.
Yes. Thank you Valhalla
I'm too broke for that shit
We use it to line chutes sometimes
It sounded to me like that had 3/8 in sheet ar500 and his friend cut it into targets instead of armor
Yes, but not welded 3/8 plates
Yeah, 4x8 sheet. Cut down for targets before I could get a section
Anyway lol I'll look up hoplite
With steel plates u NEEEEEED the spall protection or build up coat. Or soft armor in addition to. Otherwise if u take a hit all the bullet fragments end up in ur neck and arms
yeah but also way heavier, avoid them unless you have no other option
Ceramic armor shatters a little bit and absorbs the bullet. With steel it essentially fragments the bullet and sends it off like a ricochet
Yes get ceramic
or if you have HK money, poly
Im cheap. Il have to do some shopping
I mean shit if u got HK money there is a company that makes fucking buoyant plates now. They actually fucking float their weight plus 7 lbs
