because of population size. it works in a tribe where everyone can be heard, but with tens/hundreds of millions within a country, it is easier to have representitives for each region speak for a section of the population

With the internet it is becoming easier and the world will slowly de populate

then that bridge will be cross when we get to it. projections still show population increase this century, mostly within developing regions
