Machining is a super important skill and it opens doors up. My old coworker works at a machine shop and made and milled all sorts of fun gun parts. The boss is a ffl dealer and is going to get a contract with the military for some silencers. So machining seems to be pretty darn good.

Even though it's most likely a clean spring, I'd definitely get a test kit to make sure and some type of filter if you ever plan on getting drinking water from it. I know some people who've found springs and just start filling containers without giving a shit about the quality simply cus its "mUh FrEsH sPrInG wAtEr"
