I just apply the same line of thought to the species instead of only myself.

And I would fight for my survival, on a personal level. Not doing it would simply not feel good.

But I don't run around worrying what or who will end up killing me or when it will happen. It's immaterial to waste time thinking about it.

And as all animals on planet earth our behaviours are very simple and easy to predict: we engage in that which feels good to us, and avoid that which feels bad.

Suicide involves pain of some kind. Eating, breathing and procreating doesn't. In fact it usually involves pleasure instead.

You can sit around inventing arbitrary and pretentious "philosophiocal" reasons for why you stay alive, but at the end of the day you're doing it for the exact same reason as everybody else: eating, breathing, drinking, fucking and living simply feels better than exposing yourself to pain or death.
