cuz the bowmen would get stampeded

2019-12-02 08:53:00 UTC

This isn't GOT we don't position our bowmen infront of the spearmen

2019-12-02 08:53:12 UTC

Nah volley doesn't work against cavalry either- like I said when you aim up you increase the flight path of the arrow and therefore reduce its power at the end- literally every archer knows this trope

2019-12-02 08:53:19 UTC

Longbows usually shoot a few volleys at incoming hordes and then pepper aimed shots at them once their volleys take down enough that they stop being effective

2019-12-02 08:53:19 UTC

pretty sure in medieval times they positioned bowmen on the flanks

2019-12-02 08:53:23 UTC

and separately from spearmen

2019-12-02 08:53:24 UTC

This chat smells like BO and Inhalers

2019-12-02 08:53:30 UTC

fuckin nerds

2019-12-02 08:53:37 UTC

and youd only get a good shot at cavalry if they were charging directly at you anyway

2019-12-02 08:53:41 UTC

I didn't mean aiming up I just meant holding until they're in range and then all opening fire and continuing to fire

2019-12-02 08:53:58 UTC

Not to mention an actual volley fire doesn't "blot out the sun" <:pot_of_kek:544849795433496586>

2019-12-02 08:54:04 UTC

either way afaik the proper tercio

2019-12-02 08:54:04 UTC

<:catmeme:632619225550422047>

2019-12-02 08:54:05 UTC

Not that it would be bad to break their formation by firing earlier

2019-12-02 08:54:10 UTC

which is the incorporated melee and ranged unit

2019-12-02 08:54:16 UTC

wasnt a thing until the renaissance era

2019-12-02 08:54:19 UTC

how far away the enemy is will determine how high u shoot

2019-12-02 08:54:20 UTC

You only use volley fire for massive amounts of people

2019-12-02 08:54:25 UTC

its science bro

2019-12-02 08:54:37 UTC

Just use a sword and a horse

2019-12-02 08:54:48 UTC

Then you're guaranteed to hit something

2019-12-02 08:54:49 UTC

Yea but you wouldn't take an unaimed shot- that doctrine is still here today for firearms.

2019-12-02 08:54:55 UTC

wastage of arrows

2019-12-02 08:55:00 UTC

Its not fucking easy to take a long range shot with a bow

2019-12-02 08:55:04 UTC

There isn't an optic imao

2019-12-02 08:55:06 UTC

Yeah, you'd shoot at a single mass of people

2019-12-02 08:55:10 UTC

modern firearms dont need a volley to lay down weight of shot

2019-12-02 08:55:12 UTC

No ACOG

2019-12-02 08:55:15 UTC

Nah dude it takes skill, like I said its usually less than 100 meters

2019-12-02 08:55:16 UTC

you literally just take a lmg and go to town

2019-12-02 08:55:19 UTC

nothing stops an lmg

2019-12-02 08:55:31 UTC

you cant shoot an arrow that far accurately lol

2019-12-02 08:55:32 UTC

Then once the group of people thins out you actually start aiming at individuals

2019-12-02 08:55:52 UTC

Would I hunt a deer at 100 meters? Ideally not because its 30/70, 50 meters? Yea fuck it, 20 meters? cant miss

2019-12-02 08:56:22 UTC

@Storin you understand my logic though, right?

2019-12-02 08:56:26 UTC

Like just being able to see it at that range in grass is improbable, landing a shot is still eh

2019-12-02 08:57:54 UTC

Just shoot the target and not miss

2019-12-02 08:57:57 UTC

It’s not that hard

2019-12-02 08:58:15 UTC

Dude what modern people calls logic is clearly wrong- because if it did work then there would be historical accounts in the thousands backing it up. It didn't happen because it didn't work. <:shrug:349342983763656705>

2019-12-02 08:58:17 UTC

until you just bring out the horse archers

2019-12-02 08:58:20 UTC

If you miss you need to git gud
