@Louis They're not really interested in the enviroment though. It's all just a pretence to muscle in on energy markets with underhanded means. "Disqualify" their established competition so they can sell an inferior product.

2019-12-13 22:44:07 UTC

@Seven Proxies 100% correct

2019-12-13 22:44:09 UTC

Solar power has low efficiency costs far more electricity it to make than it creates

2019-12-13 22:44:16 UTC

As well as is damaging ecologically to make

2019-12-13 22:44:32 UTC

Solar panels are not enviromentaly friendly

2019-12-13 22:44:40 UTC

At that point why not build towers which reach several miles upwards, and put the solar panels at the top, above the cloud line

2019-12-13 22:44:47 UTC

@lancelout Right now it does. Because solar panels are expensive to make. They haven't made any serious efforts at cost cutting mass production yet.

2019-12-13 22:44:48 UTC

And then there's the issue of making sure the bastards don't get dirtied with sandstorms and rains.

2019-12-13 22:44:56 UTC

Like veganism is not enviromentaly friendly either

2019-12-13 22:45:01 UTC

^

2019-12-13 22:45:07 UTC

Meat eating is more enviromentaly friendly

2019-12-13 22:45:16 UTC

Hit me with the arguments, Louis.

2019-12-13 22:45:17 UTC

Because it uses less land

2019-12-13 22:45:27 UTC

@Zephyr Blackfish Moving the goalposts a little there though. Any kind of power plant will require some form of maintenance. Nuclear powerplants don't work without maintenance either.

2019-12-13 22:45:40 UTC

Nuclear is relatively clean, which is funny.

2019-12-13 22:45:44 UTC

It's about time we start doing massive indoor farms, the more vertical the better

2019-12-13 22:45:56 UTC

@Seven Proxies powerplants arent the size of a Mojave Desert-sized solar-farm.

2019-12-13 22:46:18 UTC

The more vertical, the more farms can be had within city limits, and without damaging the city or creating farmland

2019-12-13 22:46:29 UTC

@Seven Proxiesif only we could make Nuclear power plants human error free. I think this would be a good challenge for engineering and architecture.

2019-12-13 22:46:41 UTC

That would cripple the farmland that exists@Reprehensibletrash

2019-12-13 22:46:45 UTC

@Zephyr Blackfish No, but you're going to need a crapton of nuclear powerplants to get the same energy output. Besides, it's not like the mojave desert is some sort of "prime real estate". I mean, it's a fucking desert.

2019-12-13 22:46:49 UTC

Skyscraper except there are farms on each level and 45 degree roof mirrors so the light actually gets in there

2019-12-13 22:47:45 UTC

@Seven Proxies build the nuclear powerplants in the Mojave Desert for a fraction of the space and energy-cost, cuck. You'll need a "crap ton" more solar panels than you'd ever need nuclear powerplants.

2019-12-13 22:48:08 UTC

@Zephyr Blackfish Sorry. The nuclear power plants required would cost more.

2019-12-13 22:48:14 UTC

that is incorrect

2019-12-13 22:48:27 UTC

"Muh cost for most efficient form of power generation"

2019-12-13 22:48:31 UTC

Burn coal then, faggot.

2019-12-13 22:48:37 UTC

Fuck solar panels.

2019-12-13 22:48:45 UTC

Good. Horizontal farmlands are the most damaging thing to the environment. It's perfectly possible to take the funding from israel's yearly allowance, and repurpose it for making vertical farms for the south

2019-12-13 22:48:45 UTC

Nuclear power plants are the least expensive in terms of watt per dollar

2019-12-13 22:49:14 UTC

B- b- but what about muh panels?!

2019-12-13 22:49:22 UTC

and they produce so much power that it offsets the time to build and cost to build

2019-12-13 22:49:25 UTC

Nuclear is ebil

2019-12-13 22:49:26 UTC

We can make the nuclear plants rather small, honestly

2019-12-13 22:49:32 UTC

@Louis Now yes. With mass produced solar panels, no.

2019-12-13 22:49:46 UTC

Nothing wrong with building more than one solution and producing more than you need.

2019-12-13 22:49:50 UTC

you cant just wish mass production in place

2019-12-13 22:50:01 UTC

The problem is that the more nuclear plants you have, the more likely we are to see dirty bombs used in terror attacks

2019-12-13 22:50:10 UTC
2019-12-13 22:50:11 UTC

@Louis No, but one can make a serious attempt at it. Which hasn't even happened yet.

2019-12-13 22:50:12 UTC

But I suppose that's a demographic issue
