<@&588707615643795456> Daily Question ✝

- How should sinners be punished biblically? Do we take the Hardline approach of stonings, millstones, and the such or mercy and repentance?

2019-07-29 19:29:10 UTC

If you read the bible you know you don't stone or drown people for punishment other than as a tenet of the jewish laws which were abrogated (if you are Christian).

2019-07-29 19:29:56 UTC

Legal punishment is a matter for civil government and ought to be administered through said government in an orderly and civilized manner

2019-07-30 05:36:38 UTC

@el pebble The law is not abrogated, it is simply uninforcable in Judaism in the traditional means because the Sanhedrin does not exist as the Temple does not currently exist

2019-07-30 05:38:04 UTC

it is abrogated in christianity because Christ said so

2019-07-30 17:10:58 UTC

In Romans Paul writes that we are not slaves to the Law but we should still try to uphold the Law (10 Commandments) knowing that we fall short, because that is the command of God. Without the Law being a curb, mirror, and guide, and showing that we deserve Hell, Death and Damnation, the wonder of God's gift-forgiveness of sins, salvation and Life everlasting would be lost.

<@&588707615643795456> Daily Question ✝

- What is the purpose of the Old Testament for Christians? Do we take it as important as the New or is it purely for context?

2019-07-30 17:23:38 UTC

it's just context

2019-07-30 17:23:40 UTC

although

2019-07-30 17:24:06 UTC

i think that it does describe God's expectation for us

2019-07-30 20:01:08 UTC

The old testament is crazy

2019-07-30 20:38:22 UTC

I don't know ☹

2019-07-30 20:45:54 UTC

@Riley The Tanakh is G-d's holy pure word

2019-07-30 20:46:21 UTC

I know this question does not apply to me as a non-Christian

2019-07-30 20:46:47 UTC

But i will say that I believe it is purest word of G-d and deserves all recognition- both the written and oral Torah

2019-07-30 20:49:42 UTC

@G a b e גבריאל lmfao your God is evil

2019-07-30 20:49:54 UTC

2019-07-30 20:50:14 UTC

2019-07-30 20:50:58 UTC

Your God sounds more like satan

2019-07-30 20:51:21 UTC

2019-07-30 20:51:31 UTC

2019-07-30 20:51:35 UTC
