I dont think anyone advocates beating hte literal hell out of your child, some kids need physical treatment this is a fact.
beating kids gives mental health issues -> realizes older generations have far lower levels of mentall ilness
welp I guess science man said so
(also remember these punishments were far far harsher than just a belt across the ass or legs once or twice, or a spank.)
@Bogatyr Bogumir I got whipped with a rose stem that was about 2 meters (6ft ish) long when I was like 7-8 with the spikes removed ofc
A belt is nothing
Or was it a rose stem, not sure
It was of a flower I think
@Bogatyr Bogumir older people lived during a time when the criteria for mental illness was different
and many have never recieved proper examination
oh look at what I found
I was just thinking about this
The system should be seperated into 4 tiers, 1-4.
Tier one is a standard prison, cells and bars otherwise known as a minimum security prison. (No Harm, No loss of life)
Tier 2 is reserved for those who caused Harm but no Loss of life. These include but not limited to; Rape, Child abuse, intended assault, or some other form or crime that harms another person.
Tier 3 is (No harm, Loss of life) This would be reserved for those who killed another person, but with either no intent to harm them (i.e. breaking and entering leading to the death of a resident there) or some other form of death.
tier 4 is reserved for those who wished to harm others and killed them, such as Serial Killers and other high tier criminals.
In junction with a board of science, inmates from tier 4 are always open to be used for human experimentation, that is their punishment for the crime they committed. tier 3 can be used for the same purpose but at a cost, since tiers 1-3 can be eventually released at some point. Same goes for tier 2 but tier 1 is exempt from this rule, they are average citizens who committed a minor crime.
I like the idea of rehab over punishment
I say it depends on the crime
you can't rehabilitate a serial killer, but you might fix a serial thief.
Oh look those charts prove my point
Prison is a complex issue since you cant not punish people, but you cant not put some effort into resocializing
its like putting a time bomb into a box, without solving the problem that its a time bomb
Some people are simply bombs that will go off and need to remain seperated from society (or optimally executed)
@Bogatyr Bogumir How do they prove your point
ikr lol
@Shiba Inu We know that people much like all animals respond to stimulus and this is psycholgically wired. You cant not punish someone for doing wrong, whatever that is. This would be akin to catching someone who stole bread, and letting him go or not caching him at all. Just maybe yelling at him or not even that.
Meanwhile we look at said charts, the older generations show less mentall health issues. look at the 65 year old group also look at the literal mountian of physical disabilities they have.
i can also simply throw these out as these dont measure why these mental issues exist, rather that they simply do exist.
Also read the first chart, then read the later charts. Literally sub 18 year olds are worse off than over 45 year olds.
This is what happens when you pull charts, without actually identyfying "was punished was not punished"
either way you spin it they prove the point that albeit physical punishment being a thing, it didnt ruin, or had such a null effect on society. Also we see that either sub 18 is worse off than the older gens. We also see that over 65, is better off. This is the generations we are looking at mostly.
@Bogatyr Bogumir Older generations generally know not much about mental health abs have deep rooted psycological issues as a result of childhood abuse.
It has negative affects on individuals, and is known and factual that this leads to further mental illnesses such as depreasive disorders.
The fact that you will even sit and argue for abuse of children really shows the true colors of your support of the matter in general.
G-d's purest Torah forbids the abuse of children, so does Noachide law. End of story.
I don't support it and my word is final
No one should
@G a b e גבריאל I dont argue for abuse of children, but completely removing physical punishment is just a retarded way to go.
If I have a child that is acting out no matter what, I am forced to get the belt out.
If they actually behave and listen then there is no need for escalation. There are literally personality types, psychologically this is grounded, that will only respond to force. This doesnt have to be beatings or psychological abuse, but measured.
"they didnt know about mental health" People, children, have gone through far worse than spanking and come out completely fine on the other side. The psyche isnt as fragile as you make it out to be.
Again I am not arguing for abuse, but for the capacty to spank your child. Not punishing them this way, or simply taking things away, produces brats like SJW's we see today. its the philosophy of a no stress upbringing, had all SJW's taken a spanking or two in childhood and had some of that rigor and stress, society would be a better place.
Also the data says otherwise, hell reality says otherwise.
@Bogatyr Bogumir A vary vague statement of "reality" is not usable in an argument. Can you provide contradictory sources?
@everyone Question Of The Day:
What will happen to the Conservative MPs who have lost their Whips?
