@Attika A republic is a democracy imo

2019-09-09 21:52:32 UTC

direct democracy not indirect democracy and again I would say old fashioned classical democracy functions best due to a lack of greater beaurocracy that is upheld today

2019-09-09 21:52:39 UTC

Any form where a general populus votes in any manner

2019-09-09 21:53:00 UTC

No

2019-09-09 21:53:07 UTC

A republic and democracy are different

2019-09-09 21:53:08 UTC

@Attika I would prefer an Autocratic Theocracy

2019-09-09 21:53:11 UTC

I just looked it up

2019-09-09 21:53:29 UTC

So a God-King?

2019-09-09 21:53:32 UTC

đŸ¤”

2019-09-09 21:53:32 UTC

@Attika When i say democracy, i specifically refer to anytime a general population votes on any matter

2019-09-09 21:53:35 UTC
2019-09-09 21:53:40 UTC

Very different

2019-09-09 21:53:42 UTC

Greek city states devolved from democracy into mob rule in only 50 years time. Those guys fucked boys in the ass because majority said it was ok.

2019-09-09 21:53:55 UTC

An Autocratic Theocracy is a group (not one) of clergy

2019-09-09 21:53:55 UTC

Literally.

2019-09-09 21:54:01 UTC

@You Can't Afford Me then would a feudal society in that sense count as the general populace is voting through an indirect form of leadership through feifdoms through representatives?

2019-09-09 21:54:07 UTC

I can get behind a theocracy depending on the religion.

2019-09-09 21:54:18 UTC

a direct democracy would be differnent

2019-09-09 21:54:43 UTC

Theocracies are a breeding ground of tyranny

2019-09-09 21:54:48 UTC

@Attika The unfortunate truth is, the human brain is not designed for self-rule

2019-09-09 21:54:57 UTC

very true

2019-09-09 21:54:58 UTC

The problem with democracy is that its not difficult to convince an immoral majority to abuse the minority.

2019-09-09 21:55:16 UTC

rwanda would be a good example

2019-09-09 21:55:17 UTC

yes

2019-09-09 21:55:23 UTC

Democracy in action.

2019-09-09 21:55:25 UTC

@Niggler that’s retarded. There’s a reason Greek city states were the intellectual powerhouses that are still talked about today.

2019-09-09 21:55:49 UTC

@Attika And at what cost?

2019-09-09 21:55:53 UTC

Democracy is the best government. Capitalism is the best economy. Religion defines our morals. This is perfect Government.

2019-09-09 21:56:14 UTC

even though persia had a greater technological progression than that of the greek city states due to arger trade routes? @Attika

2019-09-09 21:56:14 UTC

@Attika I respectfully disagree, do you wish to move to <#587028275918929925> ?

2019-09-09 21:56:14 UTC

Democracy is tyranny of the masses

2019-09-09 21:56:21 UTC

They failed in morality. Yes. That’s not democracy.

2019-09-09 21:57:20 UTC

External government is only necessary for those who will not take on the mantle of self discipline.

2019-09-09 21:57:38 UTC

Like the average person can self discipline lol

2019-09-09 21:57:59 UTC

Smoking, alcoholism, etc. wouldn't be a problem

2019-09-09 21:58:09 UTC

Social expectation creates social results.

2019-09-09 21:59:08 UTC

If you expect every middle aged man in a white van is a pedo, society will make every van owner into one.

2019-09-09 22:01:24 UTC

At the birth of the so called demoskratia in athens socrates stated that democracy was doomed to fail due to the ignorance of the masses and their overcapability to be brainwashed leading to greater tyranny than that of a time before the kingships of the 5th century. Philosopher kings may arguably be an interesting adaptive concept in that sense as he believed they may be the solution yet also the potentual end of demoskratia.

2019-09-09 22:01:53 UTC

a system of representative voting is needed

2019-09-09 22:02:03 UTC

yet also that of strong capable leadership#

2019-09-09 22:02:37 UTC

yet ambition will always disease the progression of man, alonside greed
