They just group certain ethnicities together for convenience, but ethnicities are not the same as the others in a defined race, and the groups on the edges will end up sharing traits with other ethnicites also on the edge of ankther defined race

Much of Europeans dont have pale skin, and North Asians have pale skin too. Bome structure is more similar among Mediterranean people of Euro and Asian background than to someone from Northern europe
