Correlation is not causation โ does having the kid cause stress or is it the factors associated with having kids
Like
Poverty
having a kid is better than working a stressful job everyday for 50+ years ๐
I donโt know the methodology there but social factors and poverty should be ruled out for sure
Theyโd both affect shit
And poor especially black people have more kids early especially in the USA
๐
What
โpeopleโ
Am i wrong?

Im trying to have a legitimate discussion on methodology of the study
We donโt need racism too
They are certainly โpeopleโ
Especially in course of a study
Their differences can affect things
why do blacks have to do anything with this ๐
Especially when dealing with relatively small changes
yeh i doubt that these studies have any control for poverty @Notso
the risk of depression depends on mothers' preferences and on their job quality. If you want to stay home-and you can afford it-your risk for depression is indeed low, but if you would rather be at work, the risk significantly increases. And if you want to stay home, but you're forced to work at a low-quality job, your depression risk is the same as those at home who would rather be working.

i cant find any poll or study that suggests a causal link between stay at home mothers and negative mental states
It doesn't matter

stay at home moms are happiest but they need stability. What is interesting is we see third world women not depressed and fucntioning as stay at home mothers however what does that actual entail, and mean, well its a much more demanding job naturally than we usually assume. Things need to be done, plans made, observations remembered. Often times you will travel outside of the household to complete those tasks.
The issue would rather be a complete removal of womanly work from the house via automation or simply outsourcing it from the home via services. If a woman has a child and these things she needs to do, womanly tasks abound, she will be fulfilled because she is also quite literally working.
right
so i am reading some of these pro women in the workforce studies
they dont fucking control for whether the woman is the sole breadwinner
the studies might as well just be ''single mothers have a hard time'' especially since the more significant ''disadvantages'' appear at the lower end on the economic spectrum
these negative effects are almost certainly the result of single motherhood and not staying at home, especially since when we compare these to studies of housewives we find that they are among the happiest and most fulfilled
and single mothers who work are obviously going to be less stressed as they have a guarantee of food on the table
remember back when only the father had to work, while the mother would only stay at home?
oh yeah
