well they do care, otherwise they wouldnt go to rather large extents to hide it. The reason is because its a massive blow socially, people care about external appearances those that dont are either just evil people, or dumb.

The point is that it promotes a certain form of family forming and the family itself. Its everything necessary to create succesful families that are non pathological of course promoting community as well is a major plus.
