My dad had a patient who lost his arm in a car accident in which he'd unknowingly attempted to drive in an Ambien induced fugue state. My cousins husband had a similar experience but got lucky. Stuff can be dangerous.

It can induce an organic fugue state. Acts as a deliriant

Ambien: shutup brain let the stomach take the wheel.

2019-12-06 17:24:16 UTC

It's a nonbenzodiapzepine sedative-hypnotic

2019-12-06 18:09:22 UTC

Works on GABA-A receptors, as do benzos

2019-12-06 18:11:13 UTC

The famous Z meds

2019-12-06 18:11:18 UTC

Im prescribed diazepam for as and when needed et al

2019-12-06 18:13:47 UTC

his brain doesnt work properly

2019-12-06 18:13:53 UTC

my diazepam is rarely used

2019-12-06 18:14:17 UTC

As it should

2019-12-06 18:14:32 UTC

Benzos should be used sparingly and for no longer than 2-3 weeks

2019-12-06 18:14:35 UTC

I know how good it is

2019-12-06 18:14:42 UTC

It helps

2019-12-06 18:14:52 UTC

But in many places you see it prescribed forever

2019-12-06 18:14:56 UTC

I miss being in the UK and seeing old grannies with walkers powered by nothing but earl grey tea walking home with 30lbs of groceries in their hands.

2019-12-06 18:14:59 UTC

could be so easy to just eat one each day

2019-12-06 18:15:16 UTC

yorkshire tea*

2019-12-06 18:15:23 UTC

leave earl grey to picard

2019-12-06 18:15:26 UTC

haha

2019-12-06 18:15:49 UTC

I think the issue is partly that you can't JUST throw drugs at psychiatric disorders. It usually only masks the underlying issues. We've so thoroughly medicalized psychology that we've lost sight of the psychosocial contributors
