thus you will not try to draw simplified models and just focus on the lines

2017-08-24 07:14:48 UTC

Listen to el jefe's wisdom

2017-08-24 07:15:04 UTC

because in the last sketch you sent the proportions and the relative position is all over the place

2017-08-24 07:15:24 UTC

it shoulds take more than 1-2 weeks to fix most of it

2017-08-24 07:15:34 UTC

also dont do shading on portraits

2017-08-24 07:16:05 UTC

instead draw spheres, boxes and other primitives on a plane with a light source, thats how every art school does it

2017-08-24 07:16:31 UTC

our brain is bretty good at estimating how primitives are shaded so it will be easy for you to teach your hands

2017-08-24 07:16:43 UTC

you can make a quick replica in blender for reference at first

2017-08-24 07:16:46 UTC

Well shit, I thought I had finally curbed symbol drawing....

2017-08-24 07:17:32 UTC

I cant draw fow shit anymore because I didnt do it for 6+ years

2017-08-24 07:17:47 UTC

and even back then I was a starter

2017-08-24 07:18:13 UTC

but yeah, shading is an extremely broad and complicated topic

2017-08-24 07:18:17 UTC

start with primitives

2017-08-24 07:18:25 UTC

then move on to draiwng fruits or some shit

2017-08-24 07:18:32 UTC

and keep us updated

2017-08-24 07:20:18 UTC

avoid smudging as much as possible, it always looks like shit

2017-08-24 07:20:28 UTC

even if you do it with another peice of paper

2017-08-24 07:21:00 UTC

Pretty much where I am shading wise on the wacom.

2017-08-24 07:22:29 UTC

you like them thicc huh

2017-08-24 07:22:37 UTC

The reference was thicc.

2017-08-24 07:22:48 UTC

you chose that reference

2017-08-24 07:23:17 UTC

Yeah, she had a ton of dedicated reference images for artists.

2017-08-24 07:25:02 UTC

do this

2017-08-24 07:25:07 UTC

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/335607166423793664/350178694981222411/4e1f7097d41c7408601cd052e0e20c2e--drawing-practice-drawing-lessons.png

2017-08-24 07:25:20 UTC

and this

2017-08-24 07:25:23 UTC

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/335607166423793664/350178762719232002/c064107cc5efa2d9692946c081fb476c--reference-drawing-drawing-skills.png

2017-08-24 07:25:40 UTC

then this

2017-08-24 07:26:02 UTC

trust me, it will improve your skills significantly

2017-08-24 07:26:37 UTC

Alrighty. I'll take a go at it for tomorrows drawing stream.

2017-08-24 07:27:16 UTC

yay for reason

2017-08-24 07:27:55 UTC

I need to get better at paper shading as it is 😄

2017-08-24 07:28:31 UTC

doesnt matter what you do it on

2017-08-24 07:28:40 UTC

your brain doesnt have shaders installed yet

2017-08-24 07:30:28 UTC

On the wacom, I just paint darkness where I see darkness, and light colours where I see light colours, and then blend. On paper I gotta take into account that all the pencil can draw is more and more darkness.

2017-08-24 07:31:21 UTC

And take advantage of the fact that the paper has the lightest possible colour everywhere.

2017-08-24 07:33:46 UTC

use separate layers

2017-08-24 07:34:26 UTC

1. Lineart
2. Additional detail
3. Shading details
4. Shading
5. Coloring layer group

2017-08-24 07:34:39 UTC

On the wacom I'm always using paint brushes on seperate layers.

2017-08-24 07:37:49 UTC

I dont use the wacom tablet for drawing lineart or sketches however. The innacuracy of the smooth surface increases the time it takes me to finish the initial lineart.

2017-08-24 07:38:54 UTC

And depending on the circumstances, I'm not at home near my computer.
