I never said I wouldn't use references but that's not studying anatomy

It can be in a way - you're paying attention to how the body works and what it can and can't do in terms of posing.

Sorry if I sound a little pointed it's just after going to school for this stuff it freaks me out when people say you don't have to. You don't, but it sure as hell helps

It's fine I've never been interested in going to school for art I don't see a real purpose going but it doesn't matter

And either way the art in question was just a very quick sketch to help with what I'm pretty sure is gender dysphoria (can't know yet I haven't been diagnosed) so it really doesn't matter how good it is

even to do stylized art you have to have some sort of knowledge of anatomy and composition

Trying to draw from other people's artwork as reference will always just result in a worse version of their creation
