Well I guess Amazon just doesn't like security.

2017-03-25 09:08:39 UTC

I'm trying to turn on two-step verification because it requires you to use both options. A text option and an app option, which they advertises as not requiring mobile service. However, I do not have a smartphone because they're expensive and fragile. I do have an Amazon Fire though. And..... in ultimate irony, there's not an Authenticator App provided by Amazon so I go for highest rated one and try it. I try to tie in Amazon and, first, it refused to scan the QR code, and then when I tried to enter the manual code, the app tells me that Amazon requires a confirmed mobile number to use.

2017-03-25 09:09:24 UTC

And those are the only two options and it requires you to use both. There's no option for email like most sites with 2-factor authentication.

2017-03-25 09:14:21 UTC

you probably should get a cheap smartphone

2017-03-25 09:14:43 UTC

the Moto G lineup is cheap and well worth the price

2017-03-25 09:26:10 UTC

Why dont you have a smartphone, the only expensive ones are the big brands like apple and samsung cuz they can be expensive and kids will still buy the products

2017-03-25 09:26:32 UTC

a few reasons.

2017-03-25 09:28:02 UTC

They're still too expensive, they're pathetically fragile, they're trying too hard to be tablets by being too big (which clashes badly with their fragility), their battery life is beyond horrible, and I despise touch screens and think we're too obsessed with them. Give me buttons.

2017-03-25 09:28:40 UTC

GIVE ME BUTTONS OR GIVE MEDEATH

2017-03-25 09:28:46 UTC

2017-03-25 09:30:44 UTC

Phones.... can save your life.

2017-03-25 09:31:37 UTC

If you are in a bad situation and you need help, do you want a working phone that still has power because it's efficent, or a dead phone that was drained because you were playing games on it?

2017-03-25 09:32:04 UTC

Fragility plays into that too.

2017-03-25 09:32:08 UTC

then don't play games goofy

2017-03-25 09:32:16 UTC

get a good case

2017-03-25 09:32:25 UTC

they've got some that can withstand being ran over by a car

2017-03-25 09:32:25 UTC

Phones by their nature need to be tough, dependable, and portable.

2017-03-25 09:32:48 UTC

Nothing is going to help you with the latter because the obsession these days is bigger and bigger.

2017-03-25 09:33:00 UTC

There's effectively no difference between them and tablets now.
