My birth mom and half brother accepted it instantly and didn't have the slightest issue with it.
Not sure what that really means - I mean, your adoptive parents are still your parents. Am I missing something?
I consider them to be.
I was adopted for a good reason and I'd have been way, way worse off if they didn't take me in.
Are they religious?
Yes
oic
Did they say that was at the root of their discontent?
sorry for prodding
"god gave us a son and he wouldn't take that away"
well there we are then
Do you have a problem with them thinking of you always as their son?
Since I was 3.
Not that I understood exactly what all those feelings meant then.
It's something that is only clear in hindsight.
thanks for indulging me - I really like hearing a multitude of perspectives.
I don't mind curiousity.
Must be similar to coming out as Atheist in a religious family. It sounds about the same, in many ways.
Already did that with them.
They kicked and screamed for a while until they realized I wasn't going to back down.
The advice I tend to hear is - don't make a big deal out of it, just continue to be yourself and they might accept it easier, etc.
More or less what I was going to do
You should call into the Atheist Experience, that would be awesome
get on puiblic access and the interwebs
Aren't they a little SJWy?
not generally - only if someone calls in and wants to argue against feminism, but they heavily focus on religion/atheism
There is a local atheist group that helped me out a bit with this already.
no, I wouldn't say that. but matt dillahunty (one of the hosts) is pretty careful with his words
What do you believe and why is 90% of it
I wasn't saying for help - just to be on tv, and to help others
The AE is for the benefit of those watching
Whenever you're talking about male-to-female trans though, feminism is inevitably brought up
not if you don't bring it up
they don't operate like that, generally
I don't bring it up usually.
But others do.
They have the callers drive it 75% of the time
yeah it's a caller driven show
Something that commonly comes up is "how will you deal with the daily oppression women recieve?"
I've never heard anything even close to that over about 100 hours of AE
yeah that wouldn't come up
