it was their way of making sense of science and our feelings, filling in the gap of the unknown using symbolism, a way of living with certainty, reason to live, comfort in knowing, but like all religions it's only just that, not the absolute truth, their is no religion truer then the next, their all just different ways of making sense of same thing, the forever unknowing, a coping mechanism, not the absolute truth, something we will never know as long as we are stuck within the limitations of our body's, existing beliefs and self image you can't know what god actually is or means until you experience it, until you free your self from all limitations, because it's impossible to put into language it's impossible to understand stand what it truly is without experiencing it and it is impossible to truly experience it with our given limitations, so until death we will never know the absolute truth. I don't identify as anything because to claim you know what god is, simply can not be the truth until you have experienced it, God could mean nothingness, everything a man with a beard, life etc etc but we will never be physical or mentally able to know or even come close to understanding what god actually means until we are free from all limitations and are then able to experience it.
