Okay, I'm just gonna say really quick that being respectful and showing basic kindness/human decency are too completely different things. When you respect someone, you admire them for their achievements, abilities, or who they are. You gain a sense of appreciation for them. Nobody automatically deserves that treatment just because, especially when you consider that what is considered admirable is purely subjective.

I am completely neutral with everyone I meet. If they do something or are someone who I consider to be admirable, my repsect for their will raise. If they do something shitty or are just not a good person I will lose respect for them.
