when i was in elementary manga was what helped me gain a lot of my kanji literacy(only reading)
because of the furigana
and how those words are what people use a lot in everyday speech
just dont rush it
For part of our final last year we had to translate a japnese newspaper which was 70% kanji
there are kanji proficiency tests and even natives struggle to pass the higher level tests.
Unless they have hiragana translations I have no idea how Iβm supposed to figure out the meaning
furigana?
Yep
oh
π€
im not a very bright student with laid out study guides
can't help you that much
Korean looks like fun though
its very similar to japanese
Iβm only learning it because most of my friends are Korean and it would be top bants
Also I could just put another language on my resume for the meme
it drives me nuts when someone screams "weeb" at the top of their lungs when they see anyone or anything related to japan
even japanese people watch anime
and sing to japanese songs, they even sing to american songs
Weeb
I mean what you're describing is obviously misplaced disgust, but a kid being almost exclusive into media from the island of japan is pretty pathetic, and just turns one into a bore to talk to.
its one thing to get lost in the rabbit hole for a few years but I question the mental health of anyone who can't bring themselves to consume anything else
The stigma is totally understandable though
Just kind of annoying when someone finds out you can speak Japanese and they give you that look
I know what you mean, but people will look at anyone weird who seems to be just a little too into their hobby
unless its creative like writing, art, dance, something along those lines
it is disgusting, and barely any individuals seem to be living the "weeb" lifestyle highlighted in those filthy frank videos.
the term weeb now seems to be directed at any otaku, or anyone infact.
i think it's still rude and insulting, japanese or not.
I think identifying as an otaku is a telltale sign
indeed
doesn't even have to be otaku anymore
just related to japan
I donβt even watch anime or anythibg
otaku's just the japanese word for nerd is it not?
I just like the Japanese aesthetic
really is quite frustrating when you have an 11 year old obsessed with filthy frank yelling at you elementary grade insults with the term weeb and anime tits woven into them
yes but its associated with gaming and anime mostly
in japan
