combine that with the cartels number one moneymaker, weed, and we just took a huge chunk out of the cartel's profits
not if its monitored closely and carefully a la the food industry
But there's no way you could say for sure you wouldn't end up driving down the price of already vulnerable people
thats kinda like saying leagalising a drug would make everyone start doing drugs, demand isn't actually likely to increase
I don't think the sex industry is the same to drugs in that regard
I don't know why women would want to even make themselves into a prostitute, even if it was legal and "safe"
its profits. it costs huge amounts of money to traffick people across the border. they couldnt lower their prices because theyd stop making money
not only that, but the demand would plummet since most people would rather do it the safe and legal way
I don't think you can say they couldn't lower them, if they found ways to do so they would.
@veggydip it could be a money thing, last option
same thing with weed. id rather buy weed from a licensed and monitored dispensery who is legally liable for any harm done to me, than a dealer who could lace it with whatever they wanted to and i would be helpless to stop it
I am all for it becoming legal, I just think it's not a cut and dry issue.
yeah they could lower them but 99 percent of their customer base would go away
there would be a long process to make it work
not only that, but with decreased trafficking, the police would have a much easier time concentrating their efforts on what little trafficking rings still existed
the whole idea is just immoral, you can't get rid of abuse or people taking advantage, most of the people running prostitution alone are sick minded people.
there are millions of trafficking rings in the US now, but after legalization, there would be maybe a few hundred thousand at most. much more manageable
it depeneds on your definition of morality
It's far far more difficult to deal with the problem of human traffiking than to just say, in some special places you can do this legally
selling yourself out for sex is never a good idea
sex is a method of recreating that happens to give humans pleasure. i dont see anything wrong with allowing people to indulge these urges as long as theyre paying money that then gets taxed for the country
By legalising, you would diminish the power of sick minded people who abuse and exploit their employees. @veggydip
if that's your only choice then that's your own fault.
most of the people who do legal porn do it because they enjoy it and make a killing while theyre at it
prostitution is legal in germany, no problem with it
well if its become a prostitute or starve then you'll become a prostitute
very low abuse
ive only met a handfull of strippers who say they hate their job or feel devalued
then they should leave
I think if that's how you want to use your body, go for it. Can't get too bothered about that.

your life is your life
feel free to do with it as you want
i feel this would be a job similar to being a stripper where not anyone whos desperate for money can just get a job. its a tough job and not everyone whos in a financially shaky situation would be able to do
i dont see any potential for abuse in that regard
if its heavily regulated and kept sternly monitored, i see no downsides
also as shattered was saying, its legal in germany
it's kinda a moot point right now anyway, there isn;t really anymore we can add to this
can you guess what the hiv infection rate is in germany
