The mere *idea*
That the possibility of data files and folder directories even existing is bizzare
poopoo
*that may need some explaining on my part*
Take solid state drives for example, all data is comprised of 1s and 0s in binary computer language which is determined and stored using electrical charges in the hardware
So how does the data remain after the device is turned off and disconnected from power?
I actually don’t know that despite taking a computer science course and it keeps me up every now and again
Tfw idk if the picture I posted in selfies belongs in there or animals ~~bc of the cat guys shut up I know I'm ugly~~
yikes
Data transfers from random access memory to hard disk drives, where platter heads scribe digital information into the disks. These disks have a method of sorting and arranging data by labelling sections they store the data under.
After deleting or moving files so often, the data cells are changed up so much that the system has a hard time tracking what exactly is where. And sometimes you'll get errors or data corrupts. That's why there's a disk defragmentation service in windows. since an earlier version of windows, Disk Defragmentation runs actually automatically on it's own every so often.
Solid State uses a cell block data save type that while it prevents the defragmenting issue with hard disks, the cells don't overwrite easily, and they're much more prone to bricking entirely.
For optimal use and longevity of your devices, since all hard drive and solid state drives are prone to completely eating ass at random.
It's best to place your operating system on a solid state drive for a fast boot time, and your saved data on a hard disk, because your hard disk drive will be able to handle downloading new files, erasing old ones, and moving things around, where it would wear down on your solid state.
@Lissy (Nebuliss) i think you're pretty
