Most boards do not have enough power to run 3950X
Isn't it just 105W?
That's 10 W more than a stock first gen r7 x
Actually I was wrong
I bought a high end X370 and top ryzen 7 first gen 2 years ago, assuming that I could jump to the high end zen2 after 2 years
I feel sad
What motherboard do you have?
I understand it doesn't work but that kinda was the promise
You don't know ?
MSI X370 Gaming something
I was trying to find out if plus or pro
Need to scroll down purchase list on Amazon of 2 years ago
I think Pro
Yes pro
MSI X370 Gaming Pro
And a Ryzen 7 1800X
It works with 3950x
BUT
you have to update bios to latest
Doesn't your table say nope?
No
It'll work
I have x470 by asus
And my system didnt boot before updating to latest bios
I didn't buy the CPU yet because I read it just won't work with X370
It does
it'll work but the question is how well
your motherboard wasn't designed with the power draw in mind
that's what the table refers to
It says minor airflow needed for 3950x for the vrms
it says not recommended for 3950x
You are looking at OC
Airflow on the board, right?
yeah, the area around the cpu socket
where the VRMs are
I have a front to back airflow and the CPU is watercooled
if the cpu is watercooled you usually miss out on a lot of VRM airflow
The area around the socket is empty, I can make some better cooling there
But the question is
