here's the thing, I actually wanted Jin Erso being a woman to be more of a factor, which you CAN do that without coming across as feminist (although Hollywood writers apparently can't fathom this concept). As it stands, Jin Erso could be a male character and it would have absolutely no effect on the plot.

Her views are based on things that are so far apart from modern day feminism that my prof couldn't find a way to shoehorn her ideology into the lecture
