I get the impression youre playing devil's advocate

2019-10-19 03:05:42 UTC

correct

2019-10-19 03:06:05 UTC

Little bit, but more probing for thought than entrapment.

2019-10-19 03:07:08 UTC

sad that one thinks of examining an issue from it's antithesis (devil's advocate) is often intended to entrap

2019-10-19 03:07:27 UTC

Well, it oft' is.

2019-10-19 03:07:43 UTC

sad state of affairs we live in

2019-10-19 03:08:04 UTC

free-market of ideas, indeed

2019-10-19 03:08:47 UTC

Though, that tendency may very well derive from Nature as well - it's one of the first skills a wiley child picks up after language.

2019-10-19 03:09:06 UTC

?

2019-10-19 03:10:05 UTC

Attempting to entrap via devil's advocate as well as playing with authority..

2019-10-19 03:10:27 UTC

It's a very primitive format. Yes. But it's there.

2019-10-19 03:11:02 UTC

that is certainly true in math and the human brain looks for discontinutiies; an idea is best examined at it's extremas

2019-10-19 03:11:17 UTC

but to imply 'intent'?

2019-10-19 03:11:25 UTC

Selfishness.

2019-10-19 03:11:39 UTC

i don't see the corollary

2019-10-19 03:12:01 UTC

discontinuities are patterns

2019-10-19 03:12:19 UTC

i have an idea; let me try to break it

2019-10-19 03:12:48 UTC

So, the way it worked for me was knowing what I wanted from authority.. present the extreme case (DSFS) and see if one gets their way.

2019-10-19 03:13:08 UTC

Like I said super primative

2019-10-19 03:13:25 UTC

Man ive only been for a little but I must say it's nice to see people discussing things this way

2019-10-19 03:13:26 UTC

but that is a meta-level compared with the ability to recognize such exceptions

2019-10-19 03:13:43 UTC

There is formative intent there.

2019-10-19 03:13:47 UTC

I want x.

2019-10-19 03:13:50 UTC

How?

2019-10-19 03:13:51 UTC

not messecarily

2019-10-19 03:13:54 UTC

I'm not used to internet users trying to really stimulate intellectual discussion as I've just realized

2019-10-19 03:13:57 UTC

it has nothing to do with want

2019-10-19 03:14:05 UTC

that is additional information

2019-10-19 03:14:19 UTC

Want indicates intent, though.

2019-10-19 03:15:18 UTC

it isn't ABOUT intent; however, you are implying a maliscious intent with regards to taking a devil's advocate position

2019-10-19 03:15:46 UTC

but before you ever do this, you must first find the discontinuity

2019-10-19 03:15:50 UTC

it's a thought process

2019-10-19 03:16:35 UTC

the child does this when they are alone, simply to formulate the concept of idea

Here have some shitty Frank Miller aet

2019-10-19 03:17:59 UTC

Two pages later this jihadi woman blows a building up

2019-10-19 03:18:09 UTC

intent could be maliscious, however, it is just as well assumed one is looking for more information

2019-10-19 03:18:30 UTC

Holy Terror is an awful comic

2019-10-19 03:19:07 UTC

Well I will say taking a devil's advocate position is far from wrong on its own. I once had math teacher who encoueaged us constantly to play devil's advocate and he was the best math teacher I ever had

2019-10-19 03:19:12 UTC

i'm perplexed at why one would assume maliscious intent from the get go
